What a Hunk! It's a Skunk!

Rescue Or Leave Alone?

The answer to this question is very simple when it comes to skunks. Leave them alone!
If you feel you have found an injured or orphaned skunk contact a wildlife rehabilitator nearest you, immediately.

Rescue!

If you are convinced the mother is not going to retrieve her babies, or you've found an injured skunk, you may need to rescue it.
There are three steps to rescue.
First,
Do not touch the skunk.
Skunks are widely known to sometimes carry diseases harmful to humans such as rabies disease.

Second, Do not feed the skunk or offer it a drink.
Athough this is a noble gesture it may do more harm than good in a rescue effort.

The Third Step is the MOST important step! Contact a wildlife rehabilitator nearest you!
The rehabber can help you prepare the injured or orphaned skunk for a proper rescue.
